Ondrej Miksik

Ondrej is a principal scientist in Microsoft’s Applied Sciences Group (ASG), where he works on empowering A.I. experiences for Copilot+ devices, leveraging large vision-language models (VLMs).

Before joining ASG, he worked on a cloud localization and mapping system for mixed reality devices.  Earlier in his career, he worked at the intersection of computer vision, speech recognition and human–computer interaction on proactive voice assistants.

He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Oxford where he worked on semantic segmentation of large-scale 3‑D environments with application to augmented reality glasses for visually impaired, real-time object tracking or video-segmentation under supervision of Phil Torr and Patrick Perez.

In his free time, Ondrej enjoys whitewater kayaking, skiing, hiking and cycling.
