Principal Applied Science Manager

Steve Lim

Steve is a principal applied science manager in the Applied Sciences Group (ASG), specializing in screen understanding and data generation for Windows scenarios.  His team’s foundational work powers both the models they train and release, as well as a wide range of Windows features that rely on robust evaluation data.

Throughout his time in Windows, Steve has led initiatives spanning future graphics and media planning, applied data science for PC gaming and software testing, and the deployment of NPU-accelerated models on Copilot+ PC's.  Before joining Microsoft, he headed engineering at a Boston-area startup focused on communication and collaboration technologies. 

He holds a B.S. degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an M.B.A. from Duke University.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys photography, electronic music, audio engineering, and spending time outdoors.
