    Windows Embedded Developer Update (WEDU) 1.2 is used to update the developer tools and distribution shares for Windows Embedded Standard 7 Service Pack 1. Windows Embedded Developer Update can automatically notify you when updates are available.
    You can then use Windows Embedded Developer Update to download and install the relevant updates for developer tools and distribution shares.

  • Supported Operating Systems

    Windows Vista Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 8, Windows 8.1

    • Microsoft .NET Framework 4 must be installed before you can install Windows Embedded Developer Update.
    • Ensure that the latest version of Windows Update Agent is installed. If you can use Windows Update, the latest version is installed.
    • Windows Embedded Standard 7 toolkit needs to be pre-installed.

    • Remove all prior version of WEDU for Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 via the Control Panel before installing this version.
    • This version will not install if you already have Windows Embedded 8 Standard Toolkit installed.
    • If you are using Windows Vista SP2 or Windows Server 2008 SP2 and have User Account Control enabled, then you will get a pop-up warning about an unidentified program when installing; click “Allow” to complete installation.
    • Click the Download button on this page to start the download.

  • To include downloaded updates in products that you are developing for commercial use, you must accept a separate royalty license and supplemental licensing terms by using the licensing process for Windows Embedded products.

    This 1.2 (build 2.0.0695.0) version resolves the following error that could occur when starting all previous versions of the WEDU client:
    "There was an error communicating with the server please try again later…"

    This 1.2 (build 2.0.0695.0) version is built from the same code base as the WEDU 1.2 from the Windows Embedded 8 Standard (WE8S) Toolkit.

    Incorrect install error message
    If Windows Embedded Standard 7 toolkit is not pre-installed, WEDU installer will exit and show the following error:
    "WEDU will exit because Windows Embedded 8 Standard is not detected on this machine"
    There is a typo in this error message, it should read the following:
    "WEDU will exit because Windows Embedded Standard 7 toolkit is not detected on this machine"
