    This VHD enables System Center customers to jointly evaluate System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager (DPM) with Update Rollup 4, Windows Azure Backup, SQL Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
    The software contained in this download will also enable you to configure and use cloud integrated protection to Azure Backup using DPM.

    • Important Note
      • - Hyper-V role is required to use this VHD as the primary hard disk of a guest virtual machine running on the host operating system.
      - Windows Server 2012 R2 (64Bit OS) is the guest OS in the VHD and the host operating system must support Windows Server 2012 R2 to work as the guest OS.

    • System Physical Memory (RAM) Hardware Requirements
      • - Minimum : 2 GB
      - Recommended : 4 GB

    • Download the VHD file in this download and save it to a designated location on your local drive.
    • To run DPM in a VM from Windows Azure follow the instructions given here
    • To run DPM on premises perform the steps 1, 2 and 3 as given below.
    • 1) Create a new Hyper-V VM.
    • 2) Attach this VHD to the VM as its primary disk.
    • 3) Start the VM and follow the steps below.
    Steps To Follow once the VM is up and running (for both On-Premises and Azure VMs)
    1. Start the VM with this VHD attached as its primary disk. Do not change the language settings on first boot. The default app language is "English - United States". You may change the language settings once Setup completes.
    2. Join it to the requisite domain.
    3. Add a domain user to the local machine “Administrators” group and log in with that user.
    4. (Optional) Disable “User Account Control” since it may pop up warning messages during installation phase. This is optional.
    5. Right-click “C:\Install.cmd” and Click “Run as Administrator”.
    6. Follow the instructions on screen.
