Power BI Report Template for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Guides

    Guides Analytics is part of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Guides application suite that includes the Guides PC authoring app and the Guides HoloLens app. Use Guides Analytics to analyze the usage of guides across your organization. Guides Analytics consists of Power BI visual reports which are populated with Guides usage data stored securely in your Dynamics 365 environment.

    Requires version 500.3.1.2 or later of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Guides solution. If you have an earlier solution version, you can download the previous version of Guides Analytics Power BI report templates here.

    There are two Power BI files available for download:
    1. Guides Analytics Template (PBIT file) which can be configured to display Guides HoloLens usage data stored securely in your Dynamics 365 environment, and
    2. Guides Analytics Demo (PBIX) which does not require any configuration and lets you get an overview of Guides Analytics using an example data set even before you create your first Guide.

    Power BI Desktop

    1. Download and install Power BI Desktop.
    2. If prompted, use your Guides username and password to sign in to Power BI Desktop.
    3. Download both the Guides Analytics Template (PBIT file) and the Guides Analytics Demo (PBIX) files.
    4. To get an overview of Guides Analytics using an example data set, open the Guides Analytics Demo file.
    5. To view usage and time-tracking data for your organization's guides, open the Guides Analytics Template file.
    6. When prompted in Power BI Desktop, paste your Instance URI into the provided text box. You can find this URI on the Analyze page of the Guides PC app.
    7. If prompted that "You aren't signed in", select Sign in and enter your Guides username and password.
    8. You should now see the template populated with data from your own guides. If you have not operated any guides yet, your reports may appear blank.
    9. Select the Refresh button from the Home ribbon to update your reports with the most recent Guides data.
