Review title of KiraIf you are a student do not buy this computer!!!

I have gone through two surface books in the past year, and both were replaced. The first lasted only 14 days until it failed and would not turn on. I was able to return the device and thinking it was just a defective unit, got it replaced. The next surface book 2 I got had numerous problems such as it would take 10 minutes to turn on, overheating was a serious recurrent issue, the tablet part would say it was detached with the slightest movement, coil whine started becoming an issue, and I finally replaced it with a device from another company due to it continually crashing without warning. I was taking an online exam while it crashed, so do not buy if you are a student. It is unreliable and might as well be a glorified paper weight. These issues are the same issues experienced by other users and Microsoft still has not addressed nor fixed the issues. Unless you want to return the computer every year for the rest of your life, buy something else.

Review title of WaltDO NOT BUY!!! TOTAL FAIL!!!

Bought for 6GB Video. Spent twice what an HP x360 would cost. The detachable screen is cool, but only after you shut down a ton of apps that it won't support. The list of apps to shut down, only shows static app names. You go to task manager and hunt for them. Even lockapp which is a Win 10 background process. After over a year and 20+ hours with MS support and about 80 hours of loading/reloading it, the 6GB NVidia still has only ever worked with one application, my VPN. Who needs 6GB video for their VPN? Even if you go into adv video settings and specifically set apps (you must hunt for the exe’s) to use the “high performance” (ha, right) video, they still don’t use it. MS actually said that I should be happy using the intel OB video, then why buy this POS for over $3K? So, if you need graphics, buy an HP x360 or MBP and TBolt, because THIS IS A TOTAL FAIL. Now it's out of WTY and I'm hosed. No response from MS after 5 months because there's no defense. This thing is ****!!

Review title of PeterOn my 3rd Surface Book 2 since february

My first two SB2s had to be replaced because after 2 months, the SB2 would not defect the nvidia graphics card if it wasn't in use for a few minutes. It would sometimes lose detection even while the nvidia card was being used. I'd have to detach/reattach the screen to resolve it. Had to go to the Microsoft Store on 5th Ave NYC to have them look at them, and ultimately, replaced. Also a suggestion. When in canvas or tablet mode (or any other mode where screen would rotate), have the speakers(audio) also follow the rotation. So when the screen is flipped, the left/right audio is also flipped.

Review title of Johnathan$3000 wasted. Wow!

$3,000+ spent on my surface book. In two years, the screen is wearing out and showing orange "burn marks" on all sides. How is this possible? Microsoft won't back up their equipment, only 1 yr warranty, but $3000 one would expect the screen not to burn out. Wow. At least provide discount on new screen if there are KNOWN issues with screen and computer over heating.

Review title of JohnI'm Done...

I provided a glowing 5-star review in 9/18. I was pleased with the SB2 15-inch as a replacement for my MacBook Pro, particularly as a professional photographer. Sadly, things have gone seriously downhill from there. After the 10/18 update, I experienced repeated crashes that no one could figure out. After a clean install of Windows 10 and more crashes, I had the machine replaced. The crashes continued, albeit with new connection failures between the screen and base. After a 3rd replacement, I'm now, again, experiencing crashes and unnerving disruptions in my workflow. I was now told today that I could only replace the laptop directly and could not exchange it for a different laptop without losing my full initial investment and warranty. That's over $3K!! In addition to directly conflicting with what I was told earlier by a manager, it's blatantly unfair when I'm not at fault. I love the potential of the SB2, but now have serious concerns about its reliability. Without trust, I'm out.

Would love to review on the Surface Book 2 but never received my order. Rather than sending what I originally ordered - they chose to refund my money. Incredibly poor customer service. I talked with two representatives and they both wanted me to wait while the issue was escalated. I did not hear back in the time promised and then received an email that they were refunding my original purchase. I am now holding a mouse and pen without a Surface Book 2 to use them on. Very disappointed in this level of service. They discovered a label was printed for my order but the Surface Book 2 was never shipped. I do not understand why a replacement could not have been overnighted to me to fulfill the original order.

I purchased 2 years extended warranty (Microsoft complete) for my Surface Book 2 15 with one of the representatives and guess what? 13 months later I discover that my device is “out of warranty”! Wait a minute, out off warranty after I paid Microsoft $256.47 for Microsoft complete? I called Microsoft and they informed me that my device is out off warranty and I will need a proof of purchase if I want to get warranty that I paid 13 months ago! I was speechless. Where did my money go? How is this even possible Microsoft? So, I sent the proof of purchase dated December 21, 2017. Yes, 2017! After a few days they informed me that warranty is added to my device and thank you for understanding. That’s it? Or I should be thankful that something I paid 13 months ago it’s finally been added to my device?

Review title of BruceSeverely Flawed Screen

You can add me to the list of people experiencing a cracked screen when simply using it on my lap. I was playing Witcher 3, I also use it for work, and I noticed a crack appear on the screen going from the top next to the camera and all the way to the bottom. I've never dropped or banged this thing around, I babied it. I don't know if it was the heat of the game or what could possibly have caused it but I'm extremely disappointed to say the least. I was in love this thing when I first bought it but now every time I open it, I just internally sigh. There is obviously some flaw in the design that is causing this and having Microsoft response be "pay us $700 more and we'll send you a referb", is just awful. I've been a certified Microsoft trainer and developer for over 25 years and this is by far the most disappointing I've been with any of their products.

Review title of nathanStay away

Do not buy. Failure prone and at your dime. I'm not even more than a few months past my warranty with what I would consider light use. Possibly a few hrs a month if that as I work extensively overseas and this computer stays at home. The computer just one morning wont turn on. I brought it to a dealer who says they cant even work on it and its an exchange only ( Best Buy ). I tried online to have it sent in and its the same story, the only option given to me is a 600 dollar replacement. Not even the option to attempt to fix the issue, just an outright replacement. Will never buy another surface product again.
