This one-day course, Integrating Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and Microsoft SharePoint 2010, provides students with the tools and information to help them better understand and identify the features, functionality, and terminology used in Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011.
Audience Profile
This course is designed for the Partner who needs to implement and build customized solutions.  There will be some expectation of familiarity with developer skills and CRM customization techniques.  Primary focus, however, is the IT Professional and not the Developer.

  • Identify the most common scenarios where SharePoint and Dynamics CRM can be used together

  • Understand and Use SharePoint Designer Data Views to Expose Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Data
  • Understand how to use the Business Data Catalog with data From Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Filtered Views
  • Understand how to configure, publish, and view Excel spreadsheets using Excel Services
  • Demonstrate how to install, configure, and use the default integration between Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010.
  • Understand how Business Connectivity Services and Excel Services can be used to display Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 data within SharePoint.
  • Understand how to leverage and configure SharePoint searching capabilities to search Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 data from within SharePoint.
  • Explain how Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Microsoft SharePoint 2010, PowerPivot, and Power View can be used together to provide rich business intelligence solutions for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011.
Course OutlineModule 1: Integration Concepts
This module provides an overview of the basic features, functionality, and terminology used and will also explain the basic storage concepts such as Site Collections, Sites, Document Library and Document Folders and the Document Management functionality in SharePoint 2010.

Module 2: Introduction to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Integration with SharePointThis module provides detailed information on the installation, configuration, and use of the default integration between Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and SharePoint 2010. This module outlined the configuration process that is used to integrate both Microsoft Dynamics CRM On-Premise and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online to Microsoft SharePoint is easy to set up and used and provided an opportunity to practice that process and validate the results.
Module 3: Integrating External Data Sources into SharePoint
There are two tools that you will examine in this module to better understand this experience—Business Connectivity Services (BCS) and Excel Services.

This module introduced some basic concepts and procedures that are related to BCS and how it connects to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 data.   Excel Services, similar to BCS, can be used in multiple ways that provide rich functionality and can also extract data from Microsoft Dynamics CRM.  Then this data can be viewed in SharePoint while it uses the power of Excel.
Module 4: SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Reporting
This module will focus on the new features of Microsoft SQL Server 2012, how those features better integrate with SharePoint 2010, and how Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 can use these features. Specifically, this module provides an overview of Power View and PowerPivot.  Additionally, it will explain how to display basic Microsoft Dynamics CRM reports in SharePoint, and how to configure, design, and deploy Power View reports that use Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 data.

This module explored the business intelligence capabilities of SharePoint 2010, SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 in an integrated environment. Although there is much more to explore as it relates to business intelligence and a fully integrated SharePoint and SSRS environment, this module only introduced these topics.
