Luis José Ramirez is a data scientist in the Applied Sciences Group (ASG) at Microsoft.

He began his career at Surface in 2019, starting as a hardware test engineer, then working on telemetry for graphics and camera features on Surface devices in 2021.  His growing interest in NPUs and A.I. led him to transition to ASG in 2023, where he now focuses on advanced analytics, data visualization, and instrumentation to drive customer insights, feature reliability, and innovative data engineering solutions for Windows Studio Effects and A.I. projects.

Luis earned his bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the University of Washington in 2019, with published work in numerical optimization and abstract algebra.

A Seattle native, Luis is an avid snowboarder, motorcyclist, and hobbyist photographer.  He enjoys playing frisbee with his dog, Luna, and cherishes quality time with his wife.
