Masaaki Fukumoto
Principal Researcher
Masaaki Fukumoto (Chinese: 福本 雅朗; Japanese: ふくもと まさあき), Ph.D., is a principal researcher with Microsoft’s Applied Sciences Group (ASG). He is based in Shenzhen, China, and focuses on innovation in human-interface devices and hardware.
He joined Microsoft Research Asia in 2013, coming over to ASG in 2020. Before Microsoft he spent 23 years with Japan’s major telecommunication company, NTT, first with the Human Interface Laboratories and then with the research labs of NTT subsidiary DoCoMo, the leading mobile carrier in Japan.
