From MOSA to Microsoft Customer Agreement

Learn how buying Azure directly from a Microsoft sales team differs in important ways from buying Azure online.

You’ve probably heard about some of the great benefits of buying Azure directly from a Microsoft sales representative through the Microsoft Customer Agreement—like intuitive invoices  and enhanced Azure cost-management tools.

This new way to buy Azure differs in important ways from buying Azure online through the Microsoft Online Subscription Agreement (MOSA). Knowing what to expect can help you make an informed purchasing choice.

Transitioning is simple and supports most customers

  • Transitioning from MOSA will not disrupt your Azure services or impact your Role Based Access Controls (RBAC). You’ll simply move your billing account to your new agreement with these steps.
  • You’ll buy Azure through Azure plan, which offers globally consistent pay-as-you-go rates with pricing in USD and payment in local currency.
  • You can transfer Azure Reservations you’ve purchased through MOSA to your new agreement.
  • If you need multi-tenant billing, a Microsoft Customer Agreement billing account can support many common customer scenarios. Ensure your needs can be met before you transition.

Billing and credit changes

  • Your default billing payment will change from credit card to invoice. You can still make credit card payments manually every month for invoices up to $50,000 USD.
  • Your billing anniversary date will change to the 5th of every month.
  • The Microsoft Customer Agreement doesn’t currently support credits through subscriptions, so if you have Visual Studio or sponsorship credits, you won’t be able to use them.
