Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
- See the Microsoft 365 and Office system requirements for information on what version of Windows you need to run Project Professional 2024 or Project Standard 2024.
- Yes. Project Professional 2024 and Project Standard 2024 support Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) and are compatible with Office LTSC and Office 2024.
LTSC is designed for specific scenarios, including regulated devices that cannot accept feature updates, process control devices, and specialty systems that cannot connect to the internet. To meet this need, LTSC provides a locked-in-time version of familiar productivity tools and offers performance improvements and expanded accessibility. - Project plans from earlier versions of Project can be used in Project 2024, providing you with all the benefits of the current product. To avoid compatibility issues when sharing your new Project files with Project 2007 users, save your project in a Project 2007 file format.
Note that Project 2021, 2019, 2016, 2013, and 2010 share the same file format. For more information, see File formats supported by Project desktop. - The core features of the two products are nearly identical with one exception. The Project Online Desktop client includes Kanban task boards.
Project Professional has a perpetual license. Once activated, the software will not expire. Use of the Project Online Desktop client requires an active Planner and Project Plan 3 subscription. - Project Server Subscription Edition aligns with the SharePoint Server Subscription Edition system requirements.
- Project Server Subscription Edition cannot coexist with previous versions of Project Server. For more information about upgrade and migration planning for Project Server Subscription Edition, see the Project Server documentation site.
- No, Project Server Subscription Edition does not include SharePoint Server Subscription Edition. However, you need to install SharePoint Server Subscription Edition before you install Project Server Subscription Edition.
