The third season of The Andy Griffith Show begins with “Opie’s Rival,” in which Opie becomes jealous when his father appears to be paying special attention to a pretty girl. Later in the season, Barney tries to set Andy up when he mistakenly perceives that Andy is suffering from a broken heart in “Barney Mends A Broken Heart.” Andy and Barney look forward to seeing their high school sweethearts when the Mayberry Class of '45 holds a reunion in “Class Reunion.” Plus Howard Morris returns as Ernest T. Bass as the Darling clan returns to Mayberry with its own kind of mountain trouble.
