Click one of the four pieces on the bottom, then click a spot on the grid. Make the path from the oil start as long as possible. If the score is high enough, you get another level. Get bonuses for using both ends of the cross pieces. The longer the path between the two uses, the higher the bonus. Each level is slightly harder. (Less time, higher score requirements)
