Fred Astaire sings, dances and romances Joan Leslie, playing a celebrity World War II flying ace who sneaks into New York incognito to enjoy a weekend but who finds love in 48 short hours and discovers The Sky's the Limit. Flying Tiger pilot Fred Atwell (Astaire--The Barkleys of Broadway, Easter Parade) takes a break from his famous squadron's personal appearance in Manhattan, where he quickly falls in love with magazine photographer Joan Manion (Leslie--High Sierra), pursuing her in the guise of carefree drifter Fred Burton. Manion mistakes the persistent suitor for a slacker and coward, but with a little moonlight, music and Manhattan magic all misunderstandings are resolved.
