Description
On their quest to learn more about toxic substances produced by cyanobacteria, Dr. Paul Cox and his team make an extraordinary discovery: a link between cyanobacteria and ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s illnesses. Is it possible that this link may also provide clues to a cure? Can it explain why soldiers from recent desert wars have come down with ALS? Their studies lead them to the Ogimi Village in Okinawa, Japan, where the elderly do not have any of the degenerative brain diseases plaguing the rest of the world. An amino acid present in the local diet, L-serine, offsets the effects of cyanobacterial toxins – Dr. Cox and his team may have opened the door to a cure for Alzheimer’s.
