A murder takes place in New York City. "The Comedian," a former costumed crime fighter, was thrown out the window of a skyscraper. During his self-exile on Mars, Dr. Manhattan recalls his youth as Jon Osterman, son of a Brooklyn watchmaker who becomes a nuclear researcher at Princeton University in the late 1950’s. Rorschach continues his investigation into the murder of The Comedian, paying a visit to a now-aging Moloch, once The Comedian’s most bitter enemy. Laurie and Dan grow closer together as evidence mounts that their former colleagues are being targeted for murder.
