Trade-In: Available only through the Microsoft Store online in the United States. Offer valid for reimbursements after trade in of a qualifying device (PC, laptop, mobile phone, tablet, or video game console). To be eligible for trade in, (i) you must own the qualifying device, (ii) the device must power on, (iii) the battery must hold a charge (the device must not be required to be plugged in to operate), and (iv) the device must be in fully-functional, working condition and not have broken or missing components, a cracked display or screen, liquid damage, modification(s) or the device warranty seal broken. The device cannot be password protected and must include its original chargers, accessories, and hard drive. Customer must mail in the qualifying trade-in device to be eligible for reimbursement. Devices determined to not meet eligibility criteria may be shipped back to the customer or recycled. Recycled devices are not eligible for cash back. All trade-ins are final. [3] Next Business Day Replacement claims authorization must be fulfilled prior to the applicable cut-off period to benefit from this service. In addition, the Next Day Business Replacement service is only valid from Monday through Friday, excluding standard public holidays.
[4] Drive Retention permits customers the option to retain their removable drive during service events at no additional charge. Drive Retention is only available on Microsoft Surface devices in which the drive is marketed as removable per the technical specifications on the product’s description page. Microsoft recommends that only technically inclined individuals with the knowledge, experience, and required tools perform the drive removal following Microsoft’s instructions. Opening and/or repairing your device can present electric shock, device damage, fire and personal injury risks, and other hazards. Use caution if undertaking do-it-yourself repairs. Further, any resulting damage to the device or component will not be covered under the Microsoft Limited Hardware Warranty or Protection Plans.
