Dan Sellers
Wow, it seems the last time I wrote the editor's note; I was welcoming fall and the upcoming launch. Now I find myself welcoming the New Years and thanking everyone who attended the Canadian Launch Event across Canada and help make it a great success. I would have to say November to mid December 2005 was very busy time with the 10 City Launch tour , local User Group launch events and the November Security Wednesday Web Casts. If the launch content was interesting, and you would like to learn more, you may want to check out these courses from Polar Bear - CDI on Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005. With the great success of the November Security Wednesday we are now planning to launch another Security Wednesday series of
Web Casts most likely in March for five sessions on the new security features and tools in Visual Studio 2005. Please check out Web Casts for more information as it become available.

The planning has already begun for another major MSDN tour for 2006 and it promises to be exciting. Finally, do not forget that the Canadian .NET User Group competition is getting underway. Get involved with your local User Group and create a team to participate in this great competition and show off your skills and a chance to win some great prizes

Effective June 30, 2006, Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Me (and their related components) will transition to a non-supported status. After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide any incident support options or security updates. Microsoft is not offering a custom support agreement for these products. While a majority of customers have already migrated to Windows XP, there are a few customers and businesses that have not completed their migration from Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition or Windows Me. Now is a good time to do a final check of all your computer systems, whether personal, business or those of your customers to migrate to the more secure and robust Windows XP. For more information on the end of support and for upgrading to Windows XP please click here
