Yatao Zhong is a researcher in Microsoft’s Applied Sciences Group (ASG), where he pursues his research interest in machine learning and computer vision.

He has worked on various projects related to aspects of human perception such as human pose estimation, segementation, detection and tracking.  He is passionate about deploying these machine learning models in real products that enable better human-computer interaction.

Before joining Microsoft, Yatao received his master’s degree in computing science from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, B.C., and his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China.

In his spare time, he loves hiking and landscape photography.
