Transparency reports

Microsoft regularly publishes transparency reports to provide visibility into the wide range of actions we have taken to moderate content on our consumer services, including content flagged as illegal by government authorities and law enforcement, and copyright removal requests. Our goal is to share with you the work that happens behind the scenes so our community can understand our approach and practices in safety.

Digital Safety Content Report

A bi-annual report which provides insight into the actions that Microsoft has taken on its consumer services in relation to child sexual exploitation and abuse imagery (CSEAI), grooming of children for sexual purposes, terrorist and violent extremist content (TVEC), and non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII).

Government Requests for Content Removal Report

A bi-annual report which provides insight into when a government issues a demand to Microsoft to remove access to content that is available online from one of our consumer services.

Law Enforcement Requests Report

A bi-annual report which provides insight into the number of legal demands for customer data that Microsoft receives from law enforcement agencies around the world.

Copyright Content Removal Requests

A bi-annual report which provides insight into the requests from copyright owners to Bing claiming infringement of protected works.

Right to be Forgotten Content Removal Requests Report

A bi-annual report which provides insight into the requests from European residents or Russian residents to filter search results about them on Bing for queries that include their names under the European Court of Justice’s 2014 "right to be forgotten" ruling or under amendments to Russia’s data protection law, respectively.

US National Security Orders Report

A report which provides insight into the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Orders and National Security Letters reports Microsoft has received dating back to 2011.

Jurisdictional reports

Some governments ask service providers to regularly report information on items or topics.

Community reports

Some Microsoft products publish transparency reports that has more detail around the enforcement of Microsoft and community-specific policies.
