  • Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat is an AI chat available at no additional cost with Microsoft 365. It includes web grounding, the latest large language models, file uploads, Copilot Pages, IT controls, and enterprise-grade privacy and security.

    When you add a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, Copilot Chat becomes more powerful by drawing on Microsoft Graph, working directly in productivity apps, and using advanced measurement and management tools.
  • We’re excited to introduce an academic offering for Microsoft 365 Copilot in education at $18 (USD) per user per month starting in December 2025.1 Contact sales or your reseller to purchase.
  • Copilot Chat is available at no cost for users with a Microsoft 365 A1, A3, or A5 license when signed in with their school or work account. It is currently available to faculty, staff, and higher education students aged 13 and older. Review the Copilot Chat documentation for more information.

    Microsoft 365 Copilot is available as an add-on to Microsoft 365. A qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription is required to purchase Copilot.
  • Copilot Studio is the comprehensive tool for building agents, which use AI to automate and execute business processes while working alongside or on behalf of a person, team, or organization. Agents built in Copilot Studio can seamlessly integrate your data, take action, and be deployed across multiple channels—pay only for what you use. For those licensed for Microsoft 365 Copilot, use of agents published to Microsoft 365 Copilot is included in their license.
  • The Copilot Control System (CCS) spans three functional areas critical to the administration of Copilot and agents: security and governance, management controls, and measurement and reporting. Additionally, CCS is grounded in the existing controls and commitments we manage on behalf of our Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Chat, and Microsoft Copilot Studio customers. It also includes our enterprise data protection commitments, built-in safety and governance controls, and our responsible AI services.

  • Agent is an industry-standard term commonly used to describe AI assistants. In education, agents can be tailored to have a particular expertise—whether it’s instructional design or individual student preferences—and can leverage institutional data to offer relevant insights for educators and administrators. The ability to build and add agents to Microsoft 365 Copilot is included in the Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Agents can also be accessed and used in Copilot Chat, priced on a metered basis.
