This acclaimed Korean film is the story of brothers Jin-tae (Dong-Kun Jang) and Jin-seok (Bin Won). After independence, Korea is full of hope, though life isn't easy. But all changes as the Korean War breaks out and both brothers are drafted and sent to the front lines. The harsh realities of war make Jin-tae realize he must protect his younger brother at all costs. He learns that earning a medal may allow his brother to return home, so he begins to volunteer for dangerous missions. Amid the chaos, Jin-seok is uncertain about his brother's motivation. Although Jin-tae succeeds in his many missions and earns his medal, he has become war-crazy, filled with contempt and hatred for North Koreans. Their bond is put to the test when a sudden attack by the Chinese Army separates the two brothers.
