Is it possible to produce a good TV news show and make it popular at the same time? That's the question facing volatile cable-news anchor Will McAvoy and his ideological staff in this HBO drama series from Aaron Sorkin ('The Social Network'). Overcoming a tumultuous first day together, the acerbic ACN Network anchor (played by Jeff Daniels), new executive producer MacKenzie (Emily Mortimer), their newsroom staff (John Gallagher Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, and others), and news-division boss Charlie (Sam Waterston) set out on a patriotic if quixotic mission to 'do the news well' in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles, and their own personal entanglements.
