Flavio Ribeiro is a research manager with the Applied Sciences Group. His interests include hardware, sensors, signal processing, optimization, fast transforms, acoustics and computational linear algebra.
He and his team incubate hardware and algorithms that are 1-3 years out. Previous work includes microphone array processing, force sensing, haptics, touch processing, electrostatic stylus technology and inertial navigation.
Before joining ASG, he worked as an engineer at Licht Labs, where he developed mission-critical electronics for controlling power generation and distribution. In the summers of 2009, 2010 and 2011, he was a research intern at Microsoft Research Redmond, working with the Multimedia, Interaction and Communication group.
Ribeiro graduated from the University of São Paulo with B.S. degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics in 2005 and 2008, respectively. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering in 2012 from the same university.
