The EU has made significant progress on gender equality and women’s empowerment in the last 5 years, but much more work remains to be done. In view of the 2024 European elections, we have a unique opportunity to ensure that these issues remain top of Europe’s agenda for the years to come. As we navigate the AI opportunity, digital technologies continue to play a key role in addressing systemic inequalities, providing new opportunities in the digital economy and tackling the global digital divide. Girls and women cannot be left out of shaping this transformation. Now is the time to re-double our efforts to close the gender gap in technology as well as among the decision-makers who will shape digital policies impacting our world, today and into the future.
Join us on January 24th, starting at 16:30, as we gather our multistakeholder community of partners and allies to present our 1-year Conversations Unscripted Report at The Nine (Rue Archimède 69, 1000 Brussels, Belgium), to make sure the issues we discussed over the past months stay on Europe’s agenda.
Since October 2022, we have been addressing a myriad of topics, including how to increase female participation in digital policy and technology in Europe, particularly in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation, quantum technology and cybersecurity; we have presented a toolkit on how to join and enable a diverse tech workforce; discussed how to advance gender equality in Europe and beyond in the areas of artificial intelligence and research and innovation; and shared insights on how to protect gender equality in Ukraine, as well as how to enable digital safety for women.
After presenting the preliminary findings of these conversations at the Reykjavik Global Forum for Women Leaders, Conversations Unscripted is publishing its 2022-2023 report Conversations Unscripted: An initiative for Gender Equality in Technology and Politics- Challenges and Solutions.
This report presents the highlights from Conversations Unscripted discussions, covering how to improve gender diversity in technology and policy, how technology can both help and hinder women’s rights and empowerment, fostering technology careers and skills, expanding the technology workforce, and developing systemic solutions.
The 2022-2023 Conversations Unscripted series is a collaborative initiative of Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, Women in Tech, European Cooperation in Science and Technology, Women4Cyber, The European Cyber Security Organisation, The Womenpreneur Initiative, WIIS Brussels, The Brussels Binder and Microsoft.
The findings included in the report are the result of ongoing conversations and cannot be attributed to any of the implementing partners of this initiative.
Meet some of the speakers sharing insights at our January event.
