The driving force behind our mission
Microsoft employees are passionate about giving time, money, and skills to address the issues facing our world. It’s part of our culture and how we live our mission.

Microsoft employee giving program
To support our employees’ passion for giving, Microsoft matches employee donations of time and money to nonprofit organizations. Each October, our fun and spirited employee Giving Campaign—a tradition since 1983—makes a significant annual impact in addition to generous giving year-round.
Employee giving by the numbers
In fiscal year 2020, US employees rallied together to provide:

Our employees donated $221 million (inclusive of company match) to nonprofits

Microsoft employees volunteered more than 750,000 hours

Hack for Good
Hack for Good is a community of Microsoft employees with a passion for applying technical and business skills to some of the world’s most pressing societal problems. Previous projects have included a tool for disrupting sex trafficking, a PhotoDNA cloud service, and an app to transform the foster care system.

Employees give back through pro bono services
The need for pro bono services is as great as ever. For the last 17 years, the Microsoft legal department and volunteers across the company have been committed to doing our part. We are proud to continue that commitment with the broader pro bono community and our partners.
