About disability hiring
At Microsoft, our mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Having a diverse workforce that includes people with disabilities is paramount to this mission. Fostering a hiring process that seeks candidates with disabilities and provides an environment in which they can thrive can help mitigate current staffing gaps, power innovation, and support a strong organizational culture.
About inclusive interviewing
By providing an interview process that offers accommodations upfront, such as less interviews in a day, longer breaks between interviews and a 1/1 interactive discussion on accommodations we help remove barriers to the interview process and create a positive interviewing environment for candidates with disabilities.
Interview accommodations & FAQ
All candidates in consideration for any role can request accommodations throughout the application and scheduling process at Microsoft via the accommodation request form. If selected for an interview you will be presented with the option to complete an Interview Accessibility Request form. We know that sometimes you may not be sure what to ask for until you have more detail on the interview structure.
If you have additional questions not covered in the resources linked above, you are welcome to reach out to dcareers@microsoft.com.
Available positions through the Disability Hiring Program are listed in the Upcoming events section of this page. Our roles are updated throughout the year so make sure to keep checking back.
We encourage you to search our Careers Page for all open roles at Microsoft. The first step will be to create a Microsoft profile. To do this from the Microsoft Careers page, click the "Sign in" button on the right side of the screen and select one of the four personal options: Sign in with Microsoft, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Google. From there you just need to fill out the required information. If you do decide to apply to any of the positions either through our programs or otherwise, you can also fill out our accommodation form so that we can make sure your needs are met in the interviews and hiring processes.
There are several ways to let our team know that you require an accommodation for application or interviews. You can fill out the Accommodation request form linked on every job posting, or let a member of your hiring team know.
A reasonable accommodation includes any adjustment or change to the application or hiring process, the way the job is done or to the work environment that allows a person with a disability to perform the essential functions of that job and enjoy equal employment opportunities.
These are just a few examples. We encourage you to request reasonable accommodations that best allow you to demonstrate your skills in an interview setting:
- Extended interview time
- Longer breaks between interviews
- Assistive technology such as the use of a screen reader and braille keyboard
- CART Writer
- Sign language interpreter
- Use of a personal device to complete technical questions
