New Features for Partners Coming in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2
Convergence Europe rolls onto Prague and kicked off yesterday with a CEE partner day before opening up for the full customer day today. For Convergence Europe, we have brought together many of our international partners to share their insights and expertise with the Microsoft Dynamics line of products. One of the announcements we made during the event is a number of additions to the upcoming, December 2010 release, of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2. Like all of our solutions, partners are at the heart of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV business. With this next release, we are continuing our commitment to enabling partners to be more productive and take advantage of new business opportunities by empowering them with the platform and tools they need to develop, setup, configure and customize vertical solutions for their customers. These new features include:
-
System Indicator: Enables partners to see in what context they are working in the system – which company, database, development environment, etc. Partners can personalize the System Indicator with text, colors and styles.
-
Report Dataset Refresh: When partners are developing and designing reports for customers, it will now be possible to save and compile report changes in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV report designer and Visual Studio.
-
Go-to Definition: Find functions from other objects when working and programming in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV development environment. The shortcut key, F12, enables partners to jump around in the code to look up variables and find definitions and references. Speeds productivity by eliminating extra steps and helping them to learn the system faster.
-
Page Designer Improvements: A more efficient wizard with fact boxes helps partners create more pages quickly as the information about how a page was created is easy to access and view. Also, highlighting container items on a page helps improve readability and speeds understanding of the page structure and layout.
-
Lock/Unlock Support in Object Designer: A multiple developer environment saves developers from losing their work when more than one developer is working on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV system at a time. With this feature, it’s possible to lock an object while working on it. The object is then in read-only mode if another developer wants to make a change to the same object.
If you can’t be here at Convergence Europe, visit our website to see how Microsoft Dynamics NAV can help your business. I will be back tomorrow with news on one of the other major announcements that we have made during Convergence Europe. Until then greetings from Prague.
