Copilot in Word makes clear what the system can do (Guideline 1) by providing an introductory blurb (Pattern 1A) and suggesting a list of intended use cases when onboarding users.

Copilot in Word also makes clear how well the system can do what it can do (Guideline 2) by providing a disclaimer that it could make mistakes and encourages users to verify information.

The techniques used in this example have the potential to foster appropriate reliance on AI, by reducing overreliance. Keep in mind that overreliance mitigations can backfire.
