June Haver

Born June Stovenour, she began performing onstage at six and was a singer/pianist on radio and with various bands in her teens. She debuted onscreen in 1943; although her studio, Fox, was hopeful that she could be the successor to Betty Grable, she never came close to Grable's popularity. In 1953 Haver retired from the screen and entered a convent as a nun; soon afterwards she left the convent and married actor Fred MacMurray. She never re-entered films.
