Live and Remote Communication
Integrate speech translation in all your communications
Whether at a business meeting or just an informal get together, effective communication is limited or even lost if everyone doesn’t speak the same language. Microsoft Translator’s text and speech translation technologies can help bridge this gap, whether the person is sitting right in front of you or on the other side of the world.
Using Existing Solutions for Live In-Person Communications
Depending on your needs and budget various options are possible to add speech translation capabilities to your meetings and presentations.
Use the free Translator live feature in the Microsoft Translator mobile app, on the browser, and in PowerPoint
The Microsoft Translator live conversation feature allows up to 100 participants to communicate with one another in their preferred language using the Microsoft Translator mobile app for Android, iOS, and Kindle; and the Translator desktop app for Windows; or on the web at http://translate.it.
For presentations, Microsoft Translator’s live conversation feature can be used through the Presentation Translator add-in for PowerPoint to instantly display subtitles on the speaker’s screen. The audience can follow along from their own device in their preferred language through the same Translator live feature in the apps or at http://translate.it.
In the video below, learn how the Microsoft Translator live conversation feature and the Presentation Translator for PowerPoint were used to assist ESL students in the classroom, and helped teachers communicate with parents who speak multiple languages.
Use existing turn-key solutions powered by Microsoft Translator
Translator partners offer turnkey solutions which integrate Microsoft Translator to help facilitate bilingual communication for specific use cases. For instance, for information desk scenarios, ThatTranslator offers a turn-key two-tablet solution built on the Microsoft Translator speech service.

Using existing solutions for Remote Communications
Even though communicating across the world has never been easier than it is today, having a live human translator to communicate with people speaking other languages is simply not feasible. Similar to the challenge of face to face communication, remote communication can also leverage Microsoft Translator to break down the language barrier.
Microsoft Translator has been integrated into Skype for consumer use through the Skype Translator feature since 2014 to let users talk or chat in all of the Microsoft Translator supported languages.
Microsoft Teams is the hub for team collaboration in Office 365 that integrates the people, content, and tools your team needs to be more engaged and effective. Microsoft Translator is integrated into the Teams IM feature, allowing organizations to collaborate regardless of language.
Use solutions powered by Microsoft Translator
Companies such as Nexmo or PubNub have integrated Microsoft Translator technologies into their communications platforms. Whether you need to build a global chat, voice, or video platform, you can quickly and cost-effectively remove the language barrier by using these solutions.
Build you own solution for in-person or online multilingual communication with the Microsoft Translator cloud service
You can build a solution that perfectly fits your needs by integrating the Microsoft Translator’s speech or text service into your own app. An Azure cloud service, Translator is secure, compliant and scalable to meet your needs as they grow.
For scenarios where specific terminology may be used, you can also use the Custom Speech and Custom Translator services to customize both the speech recognition and text machine translation models used by the text and speech translation services.
