The threat targets ATMs (automatic teller machines) and allows a malicious attacker to steal cash from the machine.
The attacker will have installed the malware onto the ATM before attempting to steal cash. It should be noted that the malware does not allow a hacker to steal cash from a bank account, rather it is stealing cash directly from the ATM and, therefore, the bank.
The threat is also known as GreenDispenser.
Use the following free Microsoft software to detect and remove this threat:
- Microsoft Defender Antivirus for Windows 10 and Windows 8.1, or Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows 7 and Windows Vista
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
You should also run a full scan. A full scan might find hidden malware.
