Here are some of the apps that come ready to go on your new Surface.

OneNote tile OneNote

You can use the OneNote app on your Surface to take notes and store them in the cloud. With OneNote, you’ll have your notes whenever you need them—on your computer, phone, or on the web. And now with Surface Pro 3, you can open OneNote even if your Surface is locked. For more info, see Using OneNote on Surface.

Flipboard tile Flipboard

Flipboard is your personal magazine. It collects in a single place the news, stories, articles, videos, and photos you care about, including what your friends are sharing on up to 12 social networks.

OneDrive tile OneDrive

OneDrive is cloud, or online, storage that lets you access your files from anywhere with an Internet connection. You can also choose to make some, or all, of your files available offline when you are not connected to the web. For more information, see Using OneDrive on Surface.

Mail tile Mail

Mail automatically organizes your inbox. You can add multiple accounts and access them through this single point. It also offers quick views of your favorite people, flagged messages, folders, newsletters, and social updates. See Set up and use Mail to get started.

Calendar tile Calendar

Use Calendar to manage your busy schedule. Use the What’s next view to see what’s on the schedule, or choose to see entire days, weeks, work weeks, or months.

Skype tile Skype

Skype helps you stay connected to your friends and family. Instant message, call, or video call your Skype contacts and even snap Skype to one side and chat while you are using a second app. You can use Skype to contact landline and mobile phones too with Skype credits or a subscription. People tile People

Internet Explorer tiler Internet Explorer

Music tile Music

Xbox Music lets you access your music collection, and more from your Surface. See Play music on Surface for more details.

Camera tile Camera

The Camera app lets you take regular photos, panoramic photos, or shoot video using either the front or back camera on your Surface. See Surface cameras and the Camera app for more information and how-to steps.

Photos tile Photos

Edit and organize your photos using the Photos app. Crop, enhance, and add effects to your images and set them to be the lock screen background or on the Photos tile.

Video tile Video

Xbox video brings you the latest movies and TV shows as well as featured hits. It offers recommendations based on what you’ve watched, making it easier to find something new that you’ll like. Check out Watch TV shows, movies, and videos to get started.

Games tile Games

Find new games or play old favorites using Games. Explore the Windows Store to see new releases, browse games by genre, or search.

Health & Fitness tile Health & Fitness

Health & Fitness is a single app that offers a host of health-related features. Access exercise videos, nutritional and medical references, and exercise, diet, and health trackers.

Food & Drink tile Food & Drink

Food & Drink offers recipes, wine information, and cooking guides. You can even set it to Hands-free mode, which uses your camera to let you wave a hand and move the recipe to the next page, eliminating the need to get sticky fingers on your Surface.

News tile News

News brings you the latest breaking stories as well as more in depth coverage. You can customize the coverage to add more local information or highlight the topics you choose.

Weather tile Weather

The Weather app offers hourly, daily, and 10-day forecasts as well as historical information and annual weather trends. You can add locations too so you can see not only the information for where you are, but for where you might be heading.

Finance tile Finance

Finance covers not only the fast moving market conditions, but lets you track your portfolio, browse financial news articles, and access tools and calculators for common financial tasks.

Sports tile Sports

Sports brings you scoreboards, schedules, videos, slideshows, and news stories and headlines to help you keep up to date with the world of sports and your favorite teams.

Reading List tile Reading List

Find a great article or video but just don’t have time to read or watch it now? Share it to the Reading List and it will bookmark it for you, so you can read or watch when you are ready. Just open the Reading List app for quick access.

Maps tile Maps

Maps let you see your current location, zoom in for greater detail, zoom out for a bigger picture, scroll or search for new locations, get directions, and more.
