Support inclusive economic opportunity
We must ensure that economic opportunity is inclusive—for every country, every community, every business, and every person.
Our actions
The challenges facing people and the planet are complex, and no one company can solve them alone. That’s why we work across sectors to create solutions with lasting impact.

Protecting public health
A healthy economy depends on a healthy society. Through our AI for Health program, Microsoft is investing $40 million to empower those tackling global health challenges, and an additional $20 million to advance COVID-19 research.

Building skills for employability
We are working to help create a future in which every job seeker impacted by COVID-19, employee who needs help to strengthen their career, and student preparing for the workplace, has access to the skills, technology, and opportunity to succeed.

Empowering nonprofits worldwide
Technology can enable nonprofit, humanitarian organizations and social entrepreneurs to be more productive, more innovative, and ultimately, to drive greater societal impact.

Closing the broadband gap
COVID-19 has driven many essential activities online. Yet millions of Americans lack broadband access and 49% of people globally don’t have internet access. Our Airband Initiative is on track to extend affordable broadband access to millions of people by July 2022.

Access to digital skills for Black communities
We’re increasing access to the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy. We’ll strengthen support for Historically Black Colleges and Universities, expand computer science in schools, and empower Black-led nonprofits working to provide skills to the Black community.

Promoting accessibility and inclusion
Expanding economic opportunity for all means including the more than 1 billion people around the world living with a disability. Building accessibility into everything we do empowers people with disabilities and helps organizations achieve more.

Supporting local communities
TechSpark is a program focused on digital and local economic opportunity in regions across America. We work with local partners to foster job creation and economic opportunity.

Growing computer science education
Technology Education and Literacy in Schools (TEALS) connects teachers with tech-industry volunteers in the US and British Columbia to create inclusive, sustainable computer science programs. TEALS has served 85,000+ students since 2009.

Skills for crisis-affected communities
In partnership with UNICEF and UNHCR, we will support quality education, digital skills, and improved livelihoods for displaced and refugee youth, especially girls and young women, in up to 20 countries by 2021.

In our hometown
As one of Washington state’s largest employers, we are committed to ensuring our success supports the community. We work to enhance economic growth for all, create new job opportunities, and protect and improve quality of life for residents.

Promoting more equitable access to data
To tackle the pressing societal issues we face today—climate change COVID-19, justice reform and digital access—people and organizations need access to data that can help unlock the power of innovation and technology.

Employees giving to empower nonprofits
Microsoft employees are passionate about giving time, money, and skills to address the issues facing our world. To support our employees’ passion for giving, Microsoft matches employee donations of time and money to nonprofit organizations.
