FedRAMP provides a standardized methodology for assessing, authorizing, and monitoring cloud services. In March 2016, FedRAMP announced a new accelerated process that changes the way the FedRAMP PMO and Joint Authorization Board (JAB) P-ATO’s conducts its review business. The new FedRAMP process “FedRAMP Accelerated” was designed to be more in line with the speed of digital transformation creating a more predictable and reliable timeline for CSPs to become authorized within FedRAMP (6 months or less). A key modification to the old process includes a readiness assessment that replaces the old upfront PMO documentation review process with a review of core key capabilities that have already been evaluated by a 3PAO.

Microsoft has been working with FedRAMP since its inception, which allowed it to meet the new FedRAMP standards and achieve the P-ATO within just 15 weeks of beginning the FedRAMP Accelerated review process. As the first cloud program to be granted a P-ATO using the FedRAMP Accelerated process we are excited at the possibilities this new improved process affords to both agencies and CSPs. Agencies will now have access to secure innovative cloud solutions that have met the FedRAMP bar within weeks as opposed to 9 months to 2 years from release in the market.

CRMOL achieved the JAB P-ATO on September 22nd and had previously achieved an Agency FedRAMP moderate ATO earlier in the year. In 2013, Microsoft was the first IaaS/PaaS Cloud Service Provider (CSP) to achieve a JAB P-ATO for our Azure service and is proud of its position as a partner and leader within this program.

Microsoft is committed to working with agencies, the FedRAMP PMO and the JAB and you should feel confident that Microsoft can continue to be relied on as a trusted partner in the government space.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online helps organizations move from monolithic application suites to purpose-built, SaaS applications with intelligence built-in. It unifies CRM and ERP capabilities and integrates with Azure and Office 365. CRMOL is currently used across all of the Federal Executive Departments providing a broad range of applications including contract management, customer service, grant management, workforce management and correspondence management.
