Frequently asked questions

  • Teams events helps you discover, create, and manage professional events from one unified experience in Microsoft Teams. You can plan and host a wide range of event types, such as town halls, webinars, and other large‑scale or structured events, using consistent workflows that simplify setup and execution.
  • To create, schedule, and host a Teams event, the organizer must have a Teams Enterprise license.

Co-organizers and presenters do not need a Teams events license to participate in or help run an event. Similarly, attendees do not need a Teams license to join a Teams event.

For larger audiences, organizers can extend event capacity up to 100K attendees by assigning an event capacity add-on.
  • An Attendee Capacity Pack is an optional add‑on license that increases the maximum capacity for Teams events. These licenses are available in multiple sizes from 5,000 to 100,000, depending on the audience you need to reach. Learn more.
  • By default, Teams events supports up to 3,000 interactive attendees or up to 10,000 attendees in a view‑only experience for each event. Interactive events allow features like chat, reactions, Q&A, and polling, while view‑only events are designed for large audiences primarily watching the broadcast.

For larger, streaming, non-interactive events, capacity can be increased up to 100,000 attendees by assigning additional capacity licensing to the event organizer.
  • You can access Teams events directly from the Meet app in Microsoft Teams. The Meet app is the central hub where you can discover upcoming events, create and host new events, and manage events you’ve already scheduled. The Meet app will transition to the Events app in Teams in the near future, but maintain this same product experience.
