I am a Partner Research Director at Microsoft Research in Redmond. I lead the Language, Learning, and Privacy (opens in new tab) research area. Previously, I led the applied science organization for Cortana and was chief scientist at Microsoft Health. I am an affiliate Professor at the University of Washington (CSE (opens in new tab) et iSchool (opens in new tab)), Editor-in-Chief of ACM Transactions on the Web (opens in new tab), and a Fellow of the ACM (opens in new tab).
