Tom Tully



After years acting on radio and in plays, he broke into films in 1943, going on to play character roles in numerous Hollywood productions; he typically played friendly tough guys. For his work in The Caine Mutiny (1954) he received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination. He was fairly busy until 1955, after which his screen appearances were less frequent. He later did much work on TV, continuing to work even after he lost a leg in 1970.
