Backdoor:ASP/SecChecker.A
Aliases: No associated aliases
Summary
Backdoor:ASP/SecChecker.A is a backdoor trojan meant for use to infect ASP web servers. This backdoor trojan has a hidden function that provides remote threat actors access to the infected device with persistence. Backdoor trojans often grant itself unauthorized access to stolen data, allow unauthorized control of the infected device, and enable the distribution of additional payloads.
This backdoor trojan allows thread actors to bypass any security controls and perform unauthorized actions once installed, including extracting protected information or downloading and launching a follow-on malware payload. The malware scans the target server for vulnerabilities in security; hence the name "SecChecker," since its initial function is to check for holes in the infected network.
Microsoft Defender Antivirus automatically removes threats as they are detected. However, many infections can leave remnant files and system changes. Updating your antimalware definitions and running a full scan might help address these remnant artifacts.
