Learn how your city can improve transportation at SCEWC

As Kathryn Willson recently wrote, more than 50 of our Microsoft CityNext partners will be with us at Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) November 14-17 in Barcelona, Spain. They’ll include partners who specialize in solutions for transit and traffic management.

You’ll be able to learn how your city can improve transportation convenience and efficiency—both for public transit and private vehicle traffic.

For example, at SCEWC, you can see solutions from our partner PayiQ. With PayiQ Tickets, cities can provide citizens with the convenience of being able to buy a combination of services—such as a ticket to an event and transportation there—using a mobile app. With the app, people can have their tickets on their mobile device. And they can easily pay for services using credit cards, mobile payments, or by having an invoice sent to their home on a monthly basis. PayiQ takes advantage of PayiQ Online Cloud Services.

You’ll also be able to see offerings from our partner Cubic Transportation Systems, such as its NextTraffic management solution, which empowers cities to control surface transportation and improve utilization of road networks using a scalable, centrally managed platform. Or, solutions Microsoft has enabled like the one being used by Transport for London (TfL), who have rethought their approach to how people can pay their fares. Instead of requiring people to carry a ticket or a topped-up Oyster Card, now riders can pay with their debit cards using a new contactless system. Since most people already carry debit cards with them, the result is a system that’s fast, customer-friendly and more cost-effective than ever before.

At SCEWC, also be sure to check out Drive Smart. It’s an app that people can use to become better drivers. The idea being: Improve the human factor in driving and traffic will be safer. Watch a short video on the Drive Smart website to see how the app uses technology similar to what Formula One teams use to help drivers hone their skills.

We hope to see you at Smart City Expo where you’ll find out how you can make your city more sustainable with transit and traffic management solutions from PayiQ, Cubic Transportation Systems, Drive Smart, and our other partners.
