What is Teams together mode?
Together mode is a feature that allows you to transform Teams virtual meetings using AI-segmentation technology to digitally place participants in a shared background. This makes it feel like you’re sitting in the same room with everyone else. The purpose behind together mode is rooted in creating a simple way to make meetings feel more engaging and to strengthen connections on a deeper level—backed by the latest scientific understandings of cognition, social perception, and communication.*
People using Teams together mode typically become more relaxed, more attentive to one another, more playful, and more focused on shared goals. Additionally, they report having less fatigue from frequent video meetings, a stronger sense of connection with others, and more effective meetings.*
Do I need to be on camera in Teams together mode?
Participants aren’t required to join with video in together mode, but it works best when most people have their cameras turned on. This way, everyone is mutually showing up for one another and receiving the engagement and social benefits that the feature offers.
How does Teams together mode work?
Together mode uses AI-mapping technology to automatically crop people’s faces and shoulders. It then slots their images into a virtual shared environment, such as an auditorium, meeting room, or coffee shop, to make it feel like you’re in the same place together.
