Shannon Monroe

Creative Technologist

À propos

Shannon Monroe is a Creative Technologist in the Microsoft Research (MSR) Accelerator, where they build bridges between cutting‑edge research and real‑world impact. Their work focuses on transforming advanced models—such as BioEmu, Dayhoff, Aurora, and MSR’s multi‑modal and agentic systems—into interactive prototypes, innovation kits, and externally consumable experiences that make complex science accessible to broader technical and non‑technical audiences.

Shannon leads cross-disciplinary efforts that span AI/ML, generative AI, computational biology, creative tooling, and experiential UX. They partner closely with MSR labs, Azure AI, and academic collaborators to shape research into high-value applications, accelerate incubation pathways, and help research teams showcase their innovations through demos, narratives, and customer‑ready prototypes.

Within the Accelerator, Shanon drives initiatives such as research-to-product workflows, creative technology programs, and the development of open-source or hosted “innovation kits” that enable researchers, partners, and customers to explore research models interactively. Their work has supported major company moments including Ignite, Build, and global research showcases.

Prior to joining MSR, Shannon worked across creative technology, design, and engineering roles, bringing a hybrid background that combines storytelling, deep curiosity, technical experimentation, and an instinct for making complex ideas tangible. Shannon is passionate about expanding access to advanced research, building tools that invite collaboration, and championing the culture of innovation that drives MSR’s mission of accelerating ideas into impact.
