After the death of his mother when he was a toddler, he was raised by his father, a set designer in the theater and on films such as 1987's Gaby: A True Story.
Began acting at the age of 7, when he appeared in the play De Pelicula.
In his early teens, he worked alongside his best friend Gael Garcia Bernal in the Mexican soap El Abuelo y Yo; the two would later reteam for the 2001 film Y Tu Mama Tambien.
