  • Microsoft Defender for Business is an AI-powered, enterprise-grade device security solution that helps businesses with up to 300 employees protect against ransomware and other cyberthreats in an easy-to-use and cost-effective package.
  • Microsoft Defender for Business servers is an add-on to Defender for Business or Microsoft 365 Business Premium. The add-on provides security for servers with Defender for Business, helping you protect all your endpoints using a single admin experience. Offering simplified onboarding and management, it includes security policies activated out of the box to help you quickly secure servers. Defender for Business servers also identifies threats and vulnerabilities, so you can patch and protect your environment from ransomware, malware, and other threats.
  • IT service providers can use Microsoft 365 Lighthouse to view insights from Defender for Business across multiple customers in a single location. This includes multi-tenant list views of incidents and alerts across tenants and notifications via email. Default baselines can be used to scale customer tenant onboarding, and vulnerability management capabilities help IT service providers see trends in secure score, exposure score, and recommendations to improve tenants.
  • Securing devices is critical to safeguarding your organization from malicious actors attempting to disrupt your business with cyberattacks. Device security, or endpoint security, helps to protect, detect, and respond to these cyberthreats for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.  Endpoint detection and response (EDR) is the part that spots an attack and responds.
  • Microsoft Defender Antivirus provides next-generation protection built into Windows devices, helping protect them from viruses, malware, and potentially unwanted applications. Defender for Business includes Defender Antivirus capabilities and extends protection to encompass cyberthreat and vulnerability management, attack surface reduction, endpoint detection and response, and automated investigation and response.
  • Microsoft Defender for Business is designed for small and medium-sized businesses with up to 300 users. It provides AI-powered, enterprise-grade cyberthreat protection that includes endpoint detection and response with automatic attack disruption, automated investigation and remediation, and other capabilities. Cross-platform support provides protection for Windows, MacOS, Android™, and iOS devices.

    Microsoft Defender for individuals and families helps people stay safer online. It provides antivirus protection, antiphishing protection, identity theft monitoring, credit monitoring8, and privacy protection9. It also offers identity theft insurance up to USD1 million to cover restoration costs and restoration support that’s available anytime, day or night.10

    Microsoft Defender for Business is a security solution for businesses, while Microsoft Defender for individuals and families is an all-in-one online protection app for the home.
  • Microsoft Defender for Business is built for small and medium-sized businesses with up to 300 users. It provides enterprise-grade device protection with wizard-based setup, security policies that work out of the box, and simplified management. Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is built for larger organizations and adds deeper configuration and advanced hunting. Defender for Endpoint is the foundation of Defender for Business, so the two share many protections. For more than 300 users, Defender for Endpoint is the recommended solution. Microsoft 365 Business Premium includes Defender for Business plus Intune Plan 1 to help manage and secure your devices.
  • Microsoft Defender for Business covers up to 300 users, with up to five devices per user and no minimum device requirement. It protects Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android™ devices. Servers are covered through the Defender for Business servers add-on, managed from the same place as everything else.
  • You need either a standalone Defender for Business subscription or Microsoft 365 Business Premium, plus devices running Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android™. There is no minimum device count and no separate security console to stand up. Full requirements and supported operating system versions are listed in the Defender for Business technical documentation.
  • Every laptop, phone, and server is a way in, and attackers go after small and medium-sized businesses because they usually have fewer defenders, not less valuable data. Device security adds detection and response on top of antivirus, so you can see an attack, stop it, and recover. Microsoft Defender for Business brings that to small and medium-sized businesses with up to 300 users.
  • Small businesses should check for endpoint detection and response, not antivirus alone; coverage for every device type your team uses, including macOS and mobile; automated response that contains threats without a dedicated security team; simple setup with policies that work out of the box; and clear per-user pricing.
