Azure Marketplace Brings NVIDIA cuOpt Microservice to Azure Maps

Optimized operations via better, faster decisions with accelerated computing

We are excited to announce the availability of the NVIDIA cuOpt microservice in the Azure Marketplace allowing Azure Maps customers to build complex multi-itinerary routing applications using NVIDIA’s powerful GPU-accelerated optimization. NVIDIA’s optimization engine opens up accurate, scalable, dynamic routing for Azure Maps customers across a range of use cases, including last-mile delivery, field force dispatch, intralogistics and more. Combining Azure’s redundancy, reliability, and security with the latest NVIDIA microservices such as NVIDIA NIM and cuOpt – part of the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform – allows customers to innovate faster, all on one platform.

Retailers and service providers are racing to operate faster and more efficiently in the face of increased demand and disruptions. 90% of retailers are struggling with last-mile delivery, while demand is expected to continue to grow. These demands are not just being felt by retailers but everyone along the supply chain. Distributors are seeing a 3-5% increase in costs from supply chain disruptions, but disruptions are not the only challenges faced by businesses. The challenge of optimizing vehicle fleets and operations to maximize returns is faced not just by retailers but also those that are part of the supply chain. Energy companies without logistics optimization reported a 40% increase in logistics costs. These costs can have a significant impact on business operations. Increased costs in logistics are usually passed on to consumers.

NVIDIA cuOpt is uniquely positioned to accelerate and scale dynamic route optimization with sub-second solve time. cuOpt reruns models and adjusts for changes like inoperable vehicles, traffic and weather disruptions, and the addition of new orders—all within service-level agreement time constraints. These features, combined with Azure Maps, deliver accurate geospatial data on Azure’s secure, scalable and compliant infrastructure and opens up a host of use cases for both public and private sectors. Azure customers with their data in the Azure cloud can make use of both Azure Maps and cuOpt to innovate with customer data while keeping everything in their private tenant. This can help in applications like healthcare and disaster response, where speed, security, and privacy are crucial to delivering an effective response.

Starting today, Azure Maps customers can get started with NVIDIA cuOpt by accessing it through NVIDIA AI Enterprise in the Azure Marketplace. We have provided documentation, demo application and code samples to accelerate adoption and operationalization. We are working to bring more ways for Azure customers to leverage Marketplace and other Azure services to build innovations that respond to each of our customers’ unique business needs.
