How to sign up for a free Microsoft Outlook account

Creating an Outlook account is easy:

  1. Go to the Microsoft Outlook website and select Create free account.
  2. Select a username (ex. [your-username]@outlook.com) and select Next.
    1. If your username is already taken, the Microsoft account website will ask you to choose another one. But remember, you can change your email address if you don’t like the first one you choose.
  3. Choose a secure password (must have at least 8 characters and contain at least two of the following: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols).
  4. Provide your preferred first name and last name, followed by your country/region, and birthdate, then Next.

Congrats! You should have successfully created an Outlook email. You can access your Outlook email through your laptop or the Outlook mobile app. Here’s how you can get started with the most basic features in Outlook.
