Identity kill chain: A hacker’s eye view of how your systems get pwned
A kill chain is the set of steps an attacker takes to achieve their objective. This nerve-wracking session includes live demos of current attack methods. You’ll walk through the identity kill chain from an attacker’s perspective and see what they see as they’re taking over your domain. We’ll show you the tools they use, how they apply them, and how they move from one guessed password to total takeover. You’ll see where the weakest links are in identity systems and how best to break the kill chain for each step, and you’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of attack mechanics and greater confidence in your ability to defend your organization.

Identity governance for all your users made easier through analytics
with Rahul Prakash
The growing number of users, devices, and apps connected to a network has made it increasingly difficult and time-consuming for organizations to proactively detect and remediate access risk. This session will show how analytics and machine learning can be used to automate the governance lifecycle management for internal and external user access and ensure that users have only the access they need. You’ll learn how analytics can help you:
- Drive user productivity by automatically granting access to SaaS apps based on usage patterns.
- Drive better recommendations and automation for reviewers who periodically review access.
- Programmatically remove users who are no longer required.

Distributed open identity: Self-sovereign OpenID, a status report
with Preeti Rastogi
In November 2019, OpenID Connect WG separated Chapter 7 from OpenID Connect Core and made it an independent specification to close the gap between "Self-issued OpenID Provider" and "Self-sovereign Identity.” This session (a follow-up to the Identiverse 2019 session "SSO: Self-sovereign OpenID Connect—a to-do list”) will provide an overview of these developments and bring the audience up to speed on what’s happening in the space, complete with demos of such implementations.

Enabling scalable, multilateral federations with OpenID Connect
with Mike Jones
Responding to demand from the research and education community to migrate from SAML 2 to the simpler OpenID Connect protocol, the OpenID Connect working group has created the OpenID Connect Federation specification to enable this. The new approach incorporates lessons learned from existing SAML 2 federations—especially using a new, scalable approach to federation metadata in which organizations host their own signed metadata and federation operators in turn sign statements about the organizations participating in the federation. This session will describe progress in implementing and deploying OpenID Connect Federation, upcoming interop events and results, and next steps to complete the specification and foster production deployments.

Enabling attributes of self in identity systems
with Bethan Cantrell
In many digital environments some people may want to include relevant, self-identified attributes, such as gender, religion, and sexual orientation in their digital identity. As we can see from current events, there’s a clear tension between enabling people to identify these attributes and the risk of those attributes being used to harm them. Whether the identity system is for work, government services, a social network, or something else, it needs to be implemented in a way that provides benefit without opportunity for systematic harm. This session will explore considerations when planning to enable sharing of this information as identity attributes and will present a few scenarios for discussion about controls that can be put in place.

The science behind detecting compromised identities
with Dana Kaufman
Most compromised identities show a deviation from the user’s normal behavior in their interactions with the identity provider. It may seem easy to detect a compromised account using simple rules based on past behavior, but these simple rules generate too many false positives, and the signal often gets lost in the noise. In this session, you’ll peek under the hood of the data science to see how you can use behavioral analytics, machine learning, and other risk signals to design high-quality algorithms that help detect identity compromise in real time.
