Disabling Copilot in Microsoft 365 in multiple apps

If you clear Enable Copilot in one app, Copilot is only turned off on that specific app and device. To disable Copilot across multiple apps, repeat the steps above in each individual app. For example, to turn off Copilot in Word and OneNote, clear Enable Copilot in each app separately. If you have multiple devices, do the same for each device. In addition, turning off Copilot on one device disables Copilot for anyone using that device.

If you don’t see the Enable Copilot checkbox, make sure you have the most current version of the app and update if needed.

Turn off Copilot in Microsoft 365 with your privacy settings

If clearing Enable Copilot isn’t an option, turn off Copilot in Microsoft 365 via your privacy settings. Just know that when you change your privacy settings to remove Copilot, other features, like predictive text or suggested replies, are turned off as well. Here’s how to turn off Copilot in your privacy settings:

  1. Open your app of choice.
  2. Navigate to File > Account > Account Privacy > Manage Settings.
  3. Under Connected experiences, clear the Turn on experiences that analyze your content checkbox.
  4. Select OK.
  5. Close and restart your app.

Unlike the Enable Copilot option, you only need to change your privacy settings in one of your Microsoft 365 apps. The next time you open any app, the new settings will already be applied.
