Visual Studio Team Services
Cloud-based tools for software development teams
Visual Studio Team Services (Team Services) is a set of cloud-based collaboration tools that help you plan, develop, and manage software projects of any size, in any software programming language. Based on the capabilities of Team Foundation Server, with additional cloud services, Team Services helps you manage your source code, work items, builds, tests, and more.
Visual Studio Team Services topics
Team Services uses Microsoft Azure Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) infrastructure and many Azure services, including Azure SQL databases, to deliver a reliable, globally-available service for your projects. Team Services can also use Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) to securely authenticate users and control access to your team’s critical resources. You can manage permissions for your Team Services account by adding Azure AD groups, and set access levels to determine the features that team members can use.
For more than two decades, the Microsoft approach to privacy and data protection has been grounded in our commitment to organizations’ ownership of and control over the collection, use, and distribution of their customer data.
How Microsoft manages Team Services data
We use your customer data only to provide the services we have agreed upon, and do not mine it for marketing or advertising. If you end your subscription, Microsoft is governed by strict standards and follows specific processes for removing data from our systems.
Where Team Services data is located
Customers who must maintain their data in a specific geographic location, such as within the European Union (EU), can rely on our expanding global network of datacenters. Microsoft also complies with international data protection laws regarding transfers of customer data across borders.
Who can access Team Services data and on what terms
We take strong measures to protect your data from use by unauthorized persons and from inappropriate access. We restrict access by Microsoft personnel and subcontractors, and carefully define requirements for responding to government requests for customer data. However, you can always access your own customer data at any time and for any reason.
Clearly stated policies and procedures inform you, as a Team Services customer, where your customer data is stored and how we help secure it, as well as who can access it and under what circumstances. You can review third-party audits and certifications that confirm how we meet the standards we set.
