Find Languages: Access for Everyone

The Microsoft Local Language Program provides people access to technology in a familiar language while respecting linguistic and cultural distinctions. The program aims to empower individuals in local communities to create economic opportunities, build IT skills, enhance education outcomes, and sustain their local language and culture.

The Microsoft Local Language Program is pleased to celebrate UNESCO's International Mother Language Day on February 21, 2012. This annual celebration is an important recognition of the nearly 7,000 world languages in existence today and the many efforts to preserve and revitalize them.

As a leader in language technology solutions, the Microsoft Local Language Program provides a variety of language packs, online dictionaries, software development tools and online translation offerings.

Language Interface Packs (LIP)

The most commonly used features within specific Microsoft products and operating systems have been localized to a language interface through a LIP. Downloaded free of charge, each LIP enables you to install a local language version as a "skin" on top of an existing installation of the Windows operating system and standard Microsoft Office system applications. This gives you the unique ability to use the technology in a language that is familiar and that honors your linguistic and cultural distinctions.
